Our denim travels around the world before it becomes a finished jean. We source our Fairtrade organic cotton from Mali in west Africa. Our dyeing and weaving is done in small remote villages in southern India. And our denim is stitched and finished in Italy. We source from the best of everywhere and along the way we help to give sustainable livelihoods to the Fairtrade cotton growers and farmers in Africa and the artisans who hand dye and hand weave our cloth in India. Through reviving these ancient traditions we are also helping to protect the past for tomorrow and give work to the people from the rural areas of India. Each moment of manufacture of Sharkah Chakra denims has been calculated by co2balance ( http://www.co2balance.com/). We offset the carbon footprint we incur through the transportation and manufacture of our goods in this way. co2balance support sustainable energy projects in Kenya providing energy efficient light bulbs to the Masi Mara region, which are free to the recipients who benefit from lower electricity bills as the bulbs use over 50% less electricity than standard.
